The Cinque Ports of Rye

Rye: a short drive away from the cottage is the picture perfect Cinque Ports (ancient town) of Rye. Steeped in naval history it is famed for its mouth watering Rye Bay Oysters and quaint streets.

Camber Sands boasts one of the best locations for Kitesurfing and you can enroll on a course that lasts from 1-5 days to help you master the sport! Other activities available include Stand Up Paddleboarding SUP, Windsurfing and many more.

Hastings Old Town, England

Hastings Old Town: Visit the last beach launched fishing fleet in Europe and sample some of the local catch which can be bought from the iconic fishing huts. A great selection of restaurants and pubs and fish and chips as they should be! Learn about Hasting's link to Rye and its smuggling past, visit the castle of King Harold from 1066 or visit the Blue Reef Aquarium.

Bodiam Castle

A 30 minute drive away is Bodiam Castle, a 14th century moated castle built to defend the area from the French invasion. Climb the steep steps and look out over the Rother Valley from one of the towers or enjoy a talk in the central courtyard.

Battle Abbey

Battle - visit the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings and learn more about how this small town became the place where English history really began.

Take a ride on the Bluebell Railway which runs from Northiam (a 20 minute drive from the cottage). Combine it with a visit to Bodiam Castle (return fairs available) or take a longer ride to the charming town of Tenterden. A sure hit with the kids everytime.
